Interests

Our research interests are in the area of electronic excitation and the corresponding photodegradation pathways. One of the primary projects our lab is working on is modeling the photodegradation mechanism of phenylurea herbicides in aqueous environments and on TiO2 surfaces.

Other projects in the lab include research into creating chemical databases including electronic excitation data, and investigations of the properties of small molecules relevant to other research groups in Fresno State department, including acetylacetone and DEET.

Dr. Kristi Closser's past work has included research on small metal clusters, novel EUV photoresist materials, high energy spectroscopy, and Helium clusters.  She is also very interested in continuing to improve the existing methods for treating the critical points in a reaction (minima, transition states), and rapid prediction of degradation products formed after electronic excitations.
